Online Lessons in Classical Latin

Hi!

My name is Sarah Blendstrup, and I have been working as a teacher of Danish and Latin since 2018.

I've been interested in Classical Studies since I was in High School, when I took Classical Latin and Classical Greek at an advanced level at the Cathedral School of Ribe.

During my Bachelor's degree at the University of Southern Denmark, I took optional courses in Classical Latin, and during my Master's degree, I did my minor in Classical Latin at the University of Gothenburg. During that time, I worked pro bono as a teaching assistant in Classical Latin at Kitas Gymnasium.

Much of my current teaching is in Danish language and culture, but I also help students of Classical Latin at a High School level.

I offer 1-to-1 lessons that can be tailored to your current level and goals. Lessons take place via video call, so you can take them wherever suits you best. I can also send short lecture notes after each class if the student requests them.

You can buy lessons individually or as a package, and you can book them whenever you need, at the pace you want — it's not a subscription.

As a person, I am very patient, and it is important for me that you feel comfortable showing me your difficulties and giving your opinion.

Booking lessons directly

If you book lessons directly with me, the lessons can take place on Google Meet, Zoom or Jitsi. I use Google Docs annotations for correcting and giving feedback on exercises.

My rate for individual lessons with private clients is 680 Danish crowns (DKK) for one-hour lessons and 340 DKK for half-hour lessons. This is around USD 100 and USD 50, respectively, but the conversion rate for students living outside Denmark is chosen at the moment of the payment. Private clients are exempt from VAT.

I offer a discount of 5% when you buy a bundle of 10 hours, or 10% when you buy 20 hours, which you can spend on one-hour and half-hour lessons at a pace that suits you.

Booking lessons through a platform

We can also arrange individual lessons through some third-party platforms: currently, Preply (Sarah B.) is the only one that accepts Classical Latin.

There are some aspects you should be aware of before you decide whether to buy services directly from me or through these platforms.

Platforms include their own payment and videoconference systems, and you will have to create an account with them. They charge a fee on my side that's around 15-20%, so on these platforms, I have to charge higher rates than if you book directly with me. Some platforms also add a fee on the client side, but it's often disclosed just before the payment. They set their own conditions in general.
I am not allowed to move students from one platform to another, or to my website. So if you start booking lessons with me on one platform, we will have to stick to it in the long run. If we start here, however, there's no binding whatsoever.
